Not quite Italian, not quite California.
Downtown brunch usually makes you choose: eggs and chilaquiles at one place, pasta at another. Here the kitchen does both on one menu — chilaquiles rojo or verde and huevos rancheros sit beside a bacon-and-pea rigatoni carbonara with a fried egg on top.
It runs until 3:30 PM, which is late enough to be lunch, in a white-tablecloth dining room three blocks from the Gaslamp rather than a queue on the pavement.
