Planning it
Dinner up front, the party in the back.
For a birthday dinner in downtown San Diego, book through the Reserve button and add the birthday to your notes, or call (619) 380-2208. Under 15 guests it is an ordinary reservation; from 15 up, the events team takes over and the private dining room comes into play.
Salvatore’s is an Italian restaurant in downtown San Diego with two rooms. Eat in the candlelit dining room, then move into the Medusa Room — leopard banquettes, a backlit marble bar, DJ energy late on Fridays and Saturdays — without anyone having to find the next place.

The details
Before the big night.
- Book early for a weekend, especially for six or more — long tables on Fridays and Saturdays go first.
- Give the headcount and any allergies or dietary needs in the booking notes, so the table and the kitchen are ready.
- Allow about two hours for dinner with a group, more if the party is moving to the Medusa Room after.
- Sort the bill first. Checks split two ways at most, and a 20% gratuity is added for six or more.
- Bringing a cake? Ask when you book. For private events the events team coordinates cake cutting.
- Meeting before or after? The bay and Seaport Village are a short walk from Front St, and the Gaslamp is five minutes away.
Saturday & Sunday, 12 to 4
Or make it a birthday brunch.
For a daytime birthday, weekend brunch runs from 12 PM to 4 PM: brioche French toast, a croissant Benedict, steak and eggs, and bottomless mimosas for the table. Better with family, and the evening stays free.

Birthday questions.
How do I book a birthday dinner at Salvatore's?
Use the Reserve button and add the birthday to your booking notes, or call (619) 380-2208. For 15 guests or more, the events team plans it with you instead of the host stand.
Is Salvatore's good for a group birthday dinner?
Yes. The menu is built for sharing — starters, pasta and entrées passed around the table — and the full bar has 11 signature cocktails. Groups of 15 or more can take the private dining room, which seats 65, or 90 standing.
Is there a gratuity or service charge for groups?
A 20% gratuity is added to parties of six or more, and a 3% service charge is added to all checks. Checks can be split two ways at most, so decide who is paying before you sit down.
Where can we go after dinner?
Nowhere new. On Friday and Saturday the Medusa Room behind the dining room stays open until 2 AM, so the party moves twenty feet rather than across town.
Can we do a birthday brunch?
Yes. Weekend brunch runs Saturday and Sunday from 12 PM to 4 PM, with bottomless mimosas for the table.
Can we rent the whole restaurant for a birthday?
Yes. A full buyout accommodates up to 175 guests. Send the date and headcount through the private events page or email info@salvatoressandiego.com.
